The land this house was built on was owned by the Holland family since the mid 14th century.
In 1684 it passed to the Egerton family by way of marriage.
This house, Heaton Hall, was built in 1772.
It was extended in 1820.
In 1902 it was SOLD to City of Manchester corporation and is now a public park – one of the largest municipal owned parks in Europe.
It is around 640 acres in area.
The house is still furnished and can be toured but is only open during the summer.
This photo was taken in winter – hence ‘offline’.
